The Baked Alaska Restaurant and Lounge is pleased to announce that they will be undergoing an extensive renovation beginning in January 2013. The goal of this renovation is to update all of the various spaces and give the restaurant and lounge a fresh look and create better overall flow. Upgrades will include new flooring, furniture, increased seating capacity, restroom facilities and new energy efficient lighting and equipment. Other features of the updated Baked Alaska will include a new event space, new bar and a family friendly, casual dining environment with a brick pizza oven. The brick oven will be in an open kitchen, with counter seating and not only feature Neapolitan style pizza, but a number of other Northwest inspired brick oven baked dishes. All food, as well as Northwest craft beers and wines will be available for take-out.
The Baked Alaska dining room will have a new look and refined menus. Both dining environments will have an increased emphasis on regional ingredients, beverages and sustainable business practices. Mise en Place Kitchenware will be relocated to the West side of the building and will have the continuing goal of offering quality kitchen tools and accessories for both the home cook and the professional Chef. This will also coincide with the launching of their on-line store. The renovation will require that the Baked Alaska be closed for a few weeks, beginning on January 1st and will re-open in time for Valentine’s Day. Off-site catering services will still be available during the restaurant closure. Anyone having questions regarding the closure, off-site catering, or employment opportunities can direct them to Chris Holen via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Baked Alaska owners and staff would like to express their gratitude for a fantastic last twelve years and look forward to serving Astoria for many years to come.
